Description:

A Volumatic Spacer allows the asthma sufferer to receive the correct dose of medication from their inhaler. A Volumatic Spacer is a chamber designed to hold the medication from a puffer so that it can be breathed in slowly and correctly.

NOTE: THIS SPACER CAN ONLY BE USED WITH GSK MANUFACTURED PUFFERS.

A spacer is a clear plastic container shaped like a football or a tube with a mouthpiece or mask at one end and a hole for an inhaler at the other end. Spacers help to get the asthma medication into your lungs. The medication is ‘fired’ from the puffer into the spacer and is then inhaled through the mouthpiece or the face mask of the spacer. More medication gets into your lungs than if you use a puffer on its own. You also don’t need to coordinate pressing your puffer and breathing in at the same time.

Spacers also reduce the local side effects of inhaled steroids in preventer medications, because less of the medication sticks in the mouth and throat.

Usage Directions:

Remove the puffer dust cap. Shake the puffer well. Hold the two parts of the volumatic. Line up the arrows and push the two halves together until they click. Attach the puffer to the volumatic. Press down on the puffer once. Place the mouthpiece between your teeth and close your lips around it. Breathe out gently. Breathe in slowly through your mouth. Hold your breath for about 1 seconds then breathe out slowly. If you take more than one puff, shake the puffer again and repeat. Some people may find it easier to simply breathe in and out through the Volumatic several times.

Warnings:

Always read the label and follow directions for use.
